Just a short time ago, I knocked something off my bucket list that I had been dying to do for almost 9 months… slurping happy hour $1 oysters at RM Champagne Salon.

First of all, you’re probably wondering why the heck this took roughly as long as a pregnancy to accomplish. Well, the special takes place on Tuesday evenings and with my recent Second City stint (check out this post for the lowdown!), my Tuesday evenings have been occupied every single week from 7 – 10 (which also was actually great because I never had to worry about a schedule conflict by keeping it consistent).

Anyway, fast forward to our bivalve bash. If you’ve never been, RM Champagne Salon is a fabulous place for a first date or a cozy hideaway from the crummy Chicago weather (fingers crossed we don’t have to deal for much longer - but if we do, here are 4 ways to escape it without going crazy). Not only is the main source of lighting pretty much just candles, there’s a wood burning fireplace inside the dining room. How romantical.

No holds barred, we splurged and ordered two dozen oysters. We also ordered a cocktail or two (I had the Seven Strangers – jalapeño & cilantro infused tequila, chareau, St. George absinthe, lime and proprietary RM Hellfire bitters – SO recommended), the deviled eggs and a flatbread. Also, a burger, maybe. It was amazing. And a pretty awesome deal! (Well, the oysters definitely were.)

When I later shared this experience with some of my local friends, though, I couldn’t believe that it came as a surprise. That got me thinking, what other bomb.com deals are out there that everyone should know about? Here are a few favorites to make most days of the week more fun:

Saturday & Sunday – Nellcôte | Pizza & A Beer for $10

Yes, you read that right – and it’s not just any pizza and any beer. Enjoy that weekend staple with a pinkie up and choose from the housemade fennel sausage, lamb merguez, duck confit or sunnyside up organic egg pizzas. Of course, the classic Margherita option is always on the table too (bad pun totally intended).
